Visualizing Manchester: Creative Views on City Planning

Tuesday, March 16 at 5 pm

This event is free and part of the Currier’s ARTalk Online series held monthly on Tuesday evenings.

How can artists help us see our environment in new and unexpected ways? How do city planners use data, lived experiences, interviews, and other tools to address issues in the city? Join Samantha Cataldo, curator of contemporary art at the Currier Museum, and Jodie Nazaka, Senior Planner for the City of Manchester, for a conversation about city planning and the ways in which artists can provide valuable perspectives on municipal issues.

The discussion will focus on the work featured in the Currier’s exhibition, Critical Cartography: Larissa Fassler in Manchester. Fassler’s drawings reflect her experiences as an Artist-in-Residence in Manchester while visiting from Berlin, Germany in the summer of 2019, and raise questions that encourage critical dialogue.
