Summer Art Camps: Time Bandits: (ages 6 to 14)

The Currier Museum of Art invites students ages 6 to 14 to join our dynamic week-long art camps. Experience diverse multimedia activities, connect with peers, and explore gallery spaces. Our summer art camp program offers painting, drawing, sculpture, guided museum tours, and special projects. Immerse yourself in creativity and build lasting social connections. Classes are held in the Currier studio classrooms, Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4 pm. All art supplies are provided. Join us for an enriching artistic journey!

Time Bandits – Summer Art Camps 2024

This summer, get ready for a creative time-traveling journey through the ages at the Currier Museum of Art! Take a trip through art history and learn how art has been used to connect us all as humans and communicate information since the beginning of time. From prehistoric art practices to contemporary movements, campers will explore a variety of exciting art-making methods and have a lot of fun using their imaginations.

Raiders of the Lost Art 

June 24 – June 28

For as long as there have been people, there has been art. In this exciting week of camp, students will learn about paleolithic cave drawings, early marine adventurers, ancient cultures, and more! Through guided gallery experiences, as well as multimedia art-making in our studios, students will have fun traveling in time and creating art from civilizations long ago.

Join us as we paint, sculpt, sketch, and play our way from the Middle Ages up through the Renaissance! View some of the oldest works in the Currier collection, learn about a variety of cultures, and use your imagination while experimenting with exciting art materials like plaster, fibers, and more!

Realists and Rule Breakers

July 22 – July 26

Mother Nature is often art’s greatest muse. In this camp, students will observe the different ways that artists in the 19th century strived to perfectly capture the beauty of the world around them. In the studio and outside (weather-permitting) they will nurture their sense of curiosity and wonder, exploring how the use of light and technology inspired these artists to look at the world in new and exciting ways. Join us for this fun week of camp where we learn why art rules were made to be broken!

The Mod Squad 

July 29 – August 2

Channel your inner Pablo Picasso and join us for this exciting and colorful week of camp!  Students will learn how early-20th-century artists rejected traditional techniques and forever changed the way we look at the world of art. View significant works in the collection from this remarkable time and then have fun experimenting with a variety of methods and materials in the studio to create your own adventurous and abstract art.

Postmodern Art Box 

August 12 – August 16

Discover your inner art rebel, let your imagination POP,  and make the ironic ICONIC in this exciting week of camp! Students will learn about the playful, conceptual, and colorful art of the mid-to-late 20th century, including works by Andy Warhol, Marisol, and more. Join us as we explore bold ways to create a variety of works of art that are both expressive and fun!

Neo to the Now

August 19 – August 23   

Join us for this final week of time-travel fun, as we celebrate the art and artists of the 21st century! Guided gallery visits will connect our future artists to the fine art of today, inspiring their own artistic ideas and practices in our classroom studios. A variety of creative mediums will be explored, including painting, printmaking, sculpture, and more!

Daily Schedule

Summer camp is primarily inside but does go outside for recess and certain activities (weather-permitting).

Student Drop off: 9:15 to 9:30 am.

Student Pick up: 4 pm.

All students will participate in guided tours of the galleries and explore specific artwork during the week.

Student Exhibition: Thursdays at 3:45 pm.

Lunch, Snacks, and Recess: Please pack full lunches, snacks, and plenty of water for your child. Students will have two snack breaks throughout the day, one in the morning and one later in the afternoon. Refrigerator and microwave will not be available to students. All food must be sesame and nut-free!
