This workshop is an opportunity to become familiar with a range of mark-making and painting techniques to create a small series working with the landscape as subject matter. Students will be encouraged to let go of the literal and have fun experimenting with line, shape, composition and color. Have fun breaking the art rules by using acrylic paint like watercolor and creating layers that blend hues. Students will explore the expressive nature of painting by engaging in a fast-paced process with a “bad” brush and will learn how to build texture using a palette knife with an “impasto” technique. All materials are provided for use during class time. Best for students with some acrylic painting experience.
