Summer Art Camps: ages 6 to 14
The Currier Museum of Art provides week-long art camp experiences for students ages 6 to 14, exposing children to a wide variety of multimedia art activities, while also giving them unique opportunities to experience our galleries, historic collections, and special exhibitions. Painting, drawing, sculpture, guided museum tours, special projects with visiting artists and community education partners, are just a few of the opportunities that make our camps special.
All in-person Art Camp classes will be held in the Currier’s Art for Vets Studios on the museum’s lower level, Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 4 pm. Art supplies are provided.

Using the natural world as inspiration, the Currier Museum of Art will be centered on creative themes of ENVIRONMENT and SUSTAINABILITY this summer. Join us on these weekly artistic explorations and exciting celebrations of the ancient elements: AIR, EARTH, FIRE, AND WATER, and a final week devoted to ENERGY. All camps include multimedia artmaking, guided gallery visits, special projects and experiences.
June 26 – June 30
AIR
Join us as we travel where the art winds take us: painting, sculpting, sketching, and creating many other air-focused artworks! Students will have the opportunity to paint in the fresh air (weather permitting), create wind-powered kinetic sculptures, and learn how to make creative connections and harness this powerful force of nature in their art practice.
July 10 – July 14
EARTH
For as long as there has been art, artists have been inspired by nature! Through guided gallery and museum experiences, students will focus on making connections between art, the environment, and each other. In the studio, they will nurture their sense of curiosity, while developing a personal artistic style in a variety of mediums, such as clay, fibers, paint, and other natural artmaking materials. Magical forests, wild animals, messy mud and other earthy topics will be our focus!
July 24 – July 28
FIRE
Be prepared to spark your imagination and let your creativity light up in this camp that focuses on intense color applications and unique multimedia approaches to artmaking! Students will explore works of art on view in the Currier to create their own wild artistic expressions with fire forged materials like sand, charcoal, wax, and stone.
August 7 – August 11
Water
From the highest waterfall to the bottom of the ocean floor, come explore the creative possibilities and learn about the artistic wonders of water! View works in the collection dedicated to capturing the essence of this powerful element, and just go with the flow experimenting with watercolor and acrylic paints, printmaking techniques, sea-inspired sculptures and more!
August 14 – August 18
ENERGY
Creative energy is all around us. In this final week of camp, students will learn how to harness artistic elements and mysterious forces to create inventive and expressive works of art. Splash, pull and drag paint, just like Pollock, Mitchell and deKooning, explore the artistic power of words, and learn how to use sunlight to make art!
