Summer 2024: Art for Vets Studio Workshops

We are excited to offer the 2024 summer series of Art and Wellness Workshops for our Art for Vets program members along with their spouse or significant other. These distinct day-long workshops will be led by teaching artists and the Currier’s AFV Ambassador, Lucie Amaro Chmura. No experience is necessary, all materials are included, and a light lunch will be provided.

Hand-building with Clay – Small Bowls with Claire Provencher

10:30 am to 3:30 pm
Join Manchester clay artist, Claire Provencher and explore hand-building techniques using slabs of clay and textured surface designs to create small trinket bowls and one large vessel. Students may bring their own items to press into the clay or experiment with some of the objects and tools provided. Participants will be inspired by the work of Claire Provencher, the Currier’s collection, and beyond.

*Student work will be fired and glazed for participants to pick up at a later date.

3-D Mixed-Media Sculptural Construction with Sandee Nichols

Inspired by the current installation by Elizabeth Kley, students will design and create their own 3-D mixed-media sculptural collage exploring decoration and pattern. Join Sandee Nichols for this inspiring and unique workshop. 

Sun Prints- Exploring Cyanotype Photography with Michelle Peterson

Take a break from your digital camera and have fun experimenting with one of the earliest forms of photography! First developed in the 19th century, cyanotype (aka blueprints) is a printing process that uses UV light to create beautiful cyan blue photographic prints. Students will explore the process and learn techniques and methods they can do in their own backyard. No previous photography experience necessary.
