The Currier Museum of Art joins Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas to announce October 24 Toulouse-Lautrec Day in the City of Manchester

Where: One City Hall Plaza (outside in front of City Hall – weather permitting) Manchester, NH

 

In anticipation of Moulin Rouge at the Currier, a spectacular celebration and party of the season that celebrates the works of French Artist Toulouse-Lautrec, the Museum is pleased to join Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas on the steps of City Hall on Tuesday, October 24 at 10 AM and declare Toulouse Lautrec Day in the City and celebrate the Currier’s exhibit along with Manchester’s rich French heritage.

 

The event will feature performers from Manchester-based Dimensions in Dance who will be donning can-can costumes and dancing along to a Parisian accordion musician The event will also include several participants wearing Parisian masks. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the announcement.

 

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was a French painter, caricaturist, and illustrator whose immersion in the colorful and theatrical life of Paris in the late 19th century allowed him to produce a collection of enticing, elegant and provocative images of the modern, sometimes decadent, affairs of those times.

 

The Currier Museum’s Lautrec exhibit will run through January 72018 and will also feature a colorful celebration November 4 where attendees are invited to dress up and kick up their heels at the spectacular Moulin Rouge at the Currier: La fête de la saison! Celebrate the Montmartre nightlife that Toulouse-Lautrec made famous with an evening of aerial performers, can can dancers, Parisian tango, music, dancing, French fare and so much more.
