Screening of The Vietnam War, a new Ken Burns film

Join us for a one-hour preview of the long-anticipated Ken Burns series, The Vietnam War. The film explores the human dimensions of the War through an epic narrative shaped by the testimonies of nearly 80 witnesses – including American soldiers, war protestors, and Vietnamese combatants and civilians. A facilitated discussion will follow the film.  This event is offered in collaboration with New Hampshire Public Television and New Hampshire Humanities. In connection with The Paris of Toulouse-Lautrec exhibition, this film series will explore some of the many cinematic portrayals of Toulouse-Lautrec. Each film portrays the spectacle of cafés and cabarets, dancers and dwellers who populate the slopes of the "Mount of the Martyr" at the end of the nineteenth century. Inspired by the artist circles that attracted and inspired Lautrec, the Currier features a night of local talent. Theatre KAPOW will perform one act farces, Creative Writing students from NH Institute of Art will provide readings inspired by the exhibition and artist and NHIA Professor, Bill Cass, will demonstrate printmaking techniques similar to the ones used by Toulouse-Lautrec.
