Workshop: Saturday One-day Master Class with Bruce Iverson
Location: The Currier Art Center, 180 Pearl Street, Manchester, NH
Description: Against the backdrop of meditative music, this day long workshop is your doorway to the exciting, yet, contemplative world of Asian art! This workshop is for those interested in learning and using the traditional tools and techniques of Asian Brush Painting (“sumi-e” in Japan). Through step-by-step instructor demonstrations and hands-on brush painting projects, you will explore this ancient and elegant art form. Using the “Four Treasures” (bamboo brushes, handground ink, inkstone, and rice paper) we will work on methods for painting several versions of Bamboo…symbol of strength, flexibility and grace…one of the “Four Seasons” of traditional Asian brush panting and an iconic symbol of the Far East! Additionally, we will learn how to create a delightful “guest” for our Bamboo “host”…a high flying and inquisitive dragonfly. To learn about Bruce Iverson, visit www.iversonarts.com
