Citizens Bank and New Hampshire Union Leader provide $35,000 funding, public relations and volunteer support


MANCHESTER, N.H. – Currier Museum of Art, a non-profit focused on art, centered in community and committed to inspire through its exceptional holdings of art, has been named a 2018 Champion in Action® in the category of community arts. The award, announced jointly by Citizens Bank and New Hampshire Union Leader, includes $35,000 in unrestricted funding as well as promotional and volunteer support for the organization’s outstanding work.


Currier Museum of Art utilizes its collection of art and architecture as inspiration for challenging art-making programs and a variety of community arts offerings. The Currier Museum serves 60,000+ diverse visitors each year, including 7,000+ students through school tours and 1,500+ students through education programs.


Champions in Action is part of Citizens Helping Citizens Strengthen Communities, the bank’s program designed to enhance quality of life and economic vitality in local communities. It provides support for nonprofit organizations to recognize their contributions to communities throughout New Hampshire.

To date, the Champions in Action program has awarded 322 nonprofits more than $8.9 million in contributions and promotional support.

As a Champion in Action, Currier Museum of Art will receive:
* A $35,000 contribution in unrestricted funds from Citizens Bank;
* Media coverage from the New Hampshire Union Leader;
* Volunteer support from Citizens’ colleagues at Currier Museum of Art events;
* The opportunity for the organization’s executive director to participate in a “Executive-to-Executive” mentorship with a Citizens Bank executive;
* Promotional support highlighting the Champion in Action in Citizens Bank branches;
* Exposure on the Citizens Bank website.
