We offer year-round studio art courses and programs for students of all ages and abilities.

Art Center Student Exhibit – March 17, noon to 4:00 pm 

Join us at the Currier Art Center for our Winter Student Exhibition 2018. Come and explore all that the Art Center has to offer. Bring your friends and family to view amazing student artwork from each of our winter classes. Artwork will be on display throughout the Art Center building located one block from the Currier Museum at 180 Pearl Street, Manchester, NH. Light refreshments.

Open Studio Drop In Programs

Open Studio punch cards can be purchased at the Art Center office. Visits do not need to be consecutive. Please see descriptions for more information.

Open Studio - All Artists

All Experienced Artists Welcome! NEW DROP IN PROGRAM  

This is an independent drop-in program for intermediate to advanced artists. An instructor will be present to admit students who have punch cards, to answer questions and to monitor the studio session, but participant’s projects will be self-guided. Students will receive an “Open Studio Punch Card” to gain access to studio for five prepaid sessions.Open Studio punch Cards can be purchased at the Art Center office. Visits do not need to be consecutive.

Description: We CAN get there from here.  At least, we think so!  This week you’ll explore what natural wonders, cities, monuments and other roadside attractions look like when seen from high in the sky as well as on the ground.  And then you’ll design your own retro or futuristic plane, train or automobile to take you to your next destination.  Elon Musk, watch out!  Next stop … Mars?

Description: Do you love music?  Do you love art? Why not combine both and design your own instrument!  Make it as inventive, wild, beautiful and colorful as you want.  You’ll also explore the work of artists that have created art using music as their muse, and in turn be inspired to produce music-themed artwork of your own!

Description: T-Rex, Brontosaurus, the large sloth lemur … put on your archaeology hat and take a journey into the land of the lost!  This week we’ll rediscover lost cultures, languages and species of plants, animals, fish and insects, creating art inspired by those beings from eons ago, as well as those more recently considered extinct.

Description: They evolved from dinosaurs, and are considered seminal species.  They live in trees, on the ground, and sometimes under the ground.  They can migrate thousands of miles twice a year, and the color, beauty and unique structure of their feathers continue to excite and intrigue artists of all types.  We’ll explore birds and their habitats throughout the week, creating two- and three-dimensional artwork inspired by the brilliance and singularity of birds!

An Educator (with “friends”) from the Massabesic Audubon Center will be our guest presenter on Tuesday this week!

Description: “Way down below the ocean lies the lost city of Atlantis.  It was a powerful and advanced society, where ideas flourished, and it sank and disappeared into the sea in a day and a night …”  So goes the legend of the lost city of Atlantis.  This week we’ll create our own Atlantis adventures – inventing stories and making artwork inspired by this mythical island nation.

Description: Break out your raincoat, sunscreen, and mittens as we journey from sunny skies to snowy storms!   This week you’ll travel the world and learn how to paint the wind like van Gogh, make giant waves and rain like Hokusai, and raging snow storms upon the sea like Turner!  You’ll go from pole-to-pole and circumnavigate the globe at the equator as you create art showing the beauty of nature and its weather extremes!

Year-Round Studio Art Courses and Programs


The Currier Museum Art Center is committed to quality educational opportunities, therefore professional artists and art educators provide instruction for courses with an emphasis on small classroom situations and personalized instruction. The Art Center offers classes, vacation camps and workshops for all ages and abilities, including beginners, teen intensives and master classes.  The instructors use the Currier Museum’s collections to cultivate and broaden students’ artistic skills.

Explore ongoing family programs at the museum including storytime and creative studio. Museum family programs are free with museum admission unless otherwise indicated. Children 12 and under always enjoy free admission. See full list of family activities.
