Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Zimmerman House:
All tours of the Zimmerman House begin at the museum and travel by van to the House. The van is not wheelchair accessible and requires climbing several steps to enter; however, visitors with limited mobility can arrange to meet the group at the House. A narrow transfer chair is available for use at the House. Because of the intimate nature of the House, not all rooms are wheelchair accessible. Photographs of these rooms are available. In order to preserve the historic Zimmerman House, all visitors to the House are required to wear disposable shoe covers or to remove their shoes upon entering the house. Portable stools are available at the Zimmerman House for visitors with limited mobility.
Currier Museum Art Center
The Currier Museum Art Center is an accessible facility. Disabled parking is available in the Art Center parking lot. All studios and public areas in the Art Center are wheelchair accessible. Accommodations for children and adults with disabilities can be made with advanced notice.
The Art Center also offers Art from Art for groups of students who are unable to attend Art Center-based classes or would benefit from specially-designed programs at the Art Center. This is a creative arts program consisting of four weeks of multi-media art lessons focusing on the Currier Museum of Art’s collection. This program is particularly suitable for after-school programs, and children and adults with disabilities.
Please see the Art Center catalogue for descriptions of specific courses and workshops. To discuss the possibility of scheduling an Art From Art program for your organizations, or to discuss any specific needs, please call 603.669.6144 x134.
